Superb Woman: Debra Lee

Debra Lee’s journey from Greensboro, North Carolina, to becoming one of the most influential women in media is a story of vision and resilience. A graduate of Brown and Harvard, she blended sharp intellect with fearless leadership to rise through the ranks of BET, becoming president in 1996 and later its Chairman and CEO. An honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she is the first woman to receive the Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award. Honored with accolades like Brown University’s Doctorate of Humane Letters and the Ultimate Icon Award, Lee’s legacy is more than her titles.
