OBIT: BILLY WAYNE PHILLIPS

Billy Wayne Phillips was born on 06-20-1940 in Oakwood, Texas, to Bernice Phillips and Ludie Richie Price. He was raised in Oakwood, Texas.

He joined the U.S. Army and served as an E-4 Radar & Communications Specialist. After leaving the Military, Billy worked at Neiman Marcus as a department supervisor for many years before retiring. Although he did not have any children of his own, he treated yours as if they were his. Such a kind, warm-hearted, loving person who would do anything to help if you asked.

Billy joined True Lee Missionary Baptist Church on July 27, 2008, where he was a member of the Male Chorus, involved with their laymen, and was ordained as a Deacon on July 11, 2023. He was currently serving as President of the Ushers Ministry of TLMBC for 10 years and served as Vice President of Galilee Griggs Memorial District Association for 5 years.

Billy passed away on August 18, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernice Phillips; father, Ludie Richie Price; stepmother, Ruth Price; brothers, Alton Hogg, Eddie Phillips, Gene Autry Phillips & Curtis Price; sisters, Lee Ruth Marable & Shelia Walton.

Those left behind to cherish sweet memories are: brothers, Bobby Phillips of Rockdale, TX, Varnell (Pearlie) Price of Dallas, TX, Jerome (Mentha) Price of McKinney, TX, Lonnell Price of Ft. Worth, TX; sister, Mary Miller of Ft. Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Barbara Hogg of Dallas, TX; nieces, Lisa Price, Tamara Hogg, Linda Burton, Yvette Johnson, Nyeala Miller, Rhonda Marable, Yolanda Marable, Crystal Price, Kiesha Smith & Kendra Wilson; nephews Jeromy Price, Marion Price, Malcolm Miller, Deante Benson, Dunyaye Edmun, Harlen Smith & Deanthony Price, cousins Shannon Phillips & Chandrel (Roy) Jones and his best friend Derrick Drayton and a host of other relatives and friends.
