
Documentary filmmaker Starling Thomas was born in Dallas and lives in Houston. She currently is working passionately on her documentary, Black Butterflies — a riveting chronicle about African American females caught up in the criminal justice system and how they overcame or are overcoming their circumstances. She describes herself as a “survivor of the federal criminal legal system.” Starling is a former editor at Sweet Candor TV, former public relations assistant at LillieMaePR.com, and former freelance writer at Sheen magazine. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations /Image Management from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University and her Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting and Screenwriting from Regent University.
