Fight in Midlothian leads to aggravated assault arrest

Christopher Robert Nienhuis B/M 18 years old

On July 16, 2025 at 8:39 PM, telecommunicators in the North Ellis Emergency Dispatch Center  received multiple 911 calls regarding a fight at Midlothian Community Park located at 3601 S.  14th Street in Midlothian.

Several callers reported that two Black male subjects were arguing in  the parking lot near the baseball fields. The callers stated that the altercation became physical  and one of the subjects produced a knife. Reports indicated that one of the subjects had been  cut before the fight ended.

Patrol officers from the Midlothian Police Department were immediately dispatched and the  first unit arrived in the park at 8:43 PM. The officers learned that the suspect had left the park  with three other individuals. The victim – later identified as 17-year-old Dylan Almanza of Ennis – was driven by his friends to Methodist Midlothian Medical Center. He was later transported to  Methodist Mansfield Medical Center.

Investigators from the Midlothian Police Department Criminal Investigations Division  responded to both Midlothian Community Park and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center. After  interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence at these locations, they identified the suspect as  Christopher Robert Nienhuis; an 18-year-old resident of Midlothian.

A warrant  was obtained for the arrest of Mr. Nienhuis. Investigators determined he was at his home in the  400 block of Brook Meadow Drive. Members of the Midlothian Police Department’s Warrant  Service Team went to that location and took Mr. Nienhuis into custody at 5:15 AM today.  Mr. Nienhuis is currently charged with one count of Aggravated Assault Causing Serious Bodily  Injury with a Deadly Weapon (2nd Degree Felony). Additional charges are pending. Mr. Almanza  is currently in serious, but stable condition.
