Shooting Incident at Jerry Watson Park – One Deceased, Investigation Ongoing

FERRIS, TX – At approximately 1:54 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, the Ferris Department of Public Safety responded to an incident at Jerry Watson Park, located in the 300 block of Donna Drive.

Initial reports indicate that a physical altercation occurred involving more than ten individuals, including both juveniles and young adults. The situation escalated when firearms were introduced by multiple subjects, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.

One individual was transported by Ferris Department of Public Safety Emergency Medical Services and was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Another individual sustained injuries and received treatment at a local emergency medical facility. Multiple subjects have been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Charges are pending, and the investigation remains active.

The Ferris Department of Public Safety has deployed surveillance and security cameras throughout the city, including at Jerry Watson Park. Footage from these cameras was instrumental in helping investigators quickly piece together the events of the incident and identify and apprehend those involved.

The Department is working in close coordination with the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department and the Ellis County District Attorney’s Office to ensure a thorough and complete investigation.
