USPS workers protesting against Trump

Yesterday Morning , dozens of U.S. Postal Service workers took to the streets in Dallas, protesting against the Trump administration and Elon Musk’s plans to privatize and profit from the USPS. Many carried signs reading, “The Post Office Belongs to the People, Not the Billionaires” and “USPS Not for Sale.”

Jonathan Cage, president of the Dallas Aerial Local of the American Postal Workers Union and a 27-year veteran of the Dallas Postal Service, led the demonstration. He emphasized the importance of their cause, stating:
“Today is a day of action. A lot of people don’t know that the Postal Service is a service for the people. There’s no private industry profit—it’s a nonprofit organization. With the current administration creating a threat to the Postal Service, we’re trying to bring it to the people because this is a service for the people.”

Amid the crowd, emotions ran high as postal workers stood firm in their fight. Cars passing by honked in support, signaling solidarity with the workers’ cause.

Among them was Joan Williams, a 41-year veteran of the Postal Service, who remains steadfast in her fight to protect it.
“The post office means love, community, and the people who come in and talk to you,” she said. “We’re a people’s post office.”

For many, the post office is more than just a place to send and receive mail—it’s a cornerstone of the community, a lifeline for essential services, and a testament to public service. The dedication of these postal workers underscores the vital role the USPS plays in keeping our nation connected.
