OBIT: CHARLES EDWARD PRATER

Charles Edward Prater, a remarkable man whose life was a testament to love, faith, and giving, passed away on February 20, 2025, at 79. Born on May 5, 1945, Charles lived a life rich in experiences and enveloped in devotion to his family and community.

As a retired pastor of New Life Family Baptist Church, Charles dedicated his life to the service of others, exemplifying the qualities of a gentle giant and an amazing man of God. He was known for his generous spirit and his unwavering commitment to his beliefs, always seeking to uplift those around him with his wisdom and kindness.

Charles had a lifetime of accomplishments that began at a young age. At just six years old, he took his first steps into the world of mechanics, finding joy in working on cars. By the age of eight, he was already driving, showcasing his adventurous spirit and knack for learning. His resourcefulness was evident even as a teenager, when he built a house for his uncle at the tender age of fourteen.

His family and friends cherished Charles not only as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather but also as a brother and uncle. He leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will resonate through generations.

The life and memory of Charles Edward Prater are to be celebrated in two memorial events. A viewing will be held at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, Texas, on February 28, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Following this, a funeral service will take place on March 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Refreshing Springs COGIC, situated at 1308 Rogers Avenue, Lancaster, Texas  

Charles will forever be remembered for his loving nature, incredible spirit, and the profound impact he had on the lives of those who knew him. His unwavering faith and dedication to his family and community will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.
