A Night of Purpose: Byron Sanders Kicks Off His Campaign for District 5

By: Terry Allen, Columnist, Texas Metro News

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, community leaders, advocates, and supporters gathered at Daisha Board Gallery for an evening of energy, vision, and commitment to the future of Dallas students. Hosted by Terrence Maiden and Peter Brodsky, the event marked the official kickoff for Byron Sanders’ campaign for District 5.

A lifelong champion for education, equity, and opportunity, Sanders—a product of Dallas ISD, former President & CEO of Big Thought, and the son of a teacher—has spent his career breaking down barriers for young people. Now, as a husband, father, and candidate, he is more determined than ever to ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed.

The event took place in the inspiring setting of Daisha Board Gallery, founded and curated by Daisha Board, who leads a powerful herd of BIPOC artists, including Dallas visual storyteller Jennifer Monet Cowley, known for her compelling “I Am My Brand” series.

With an inspiring message and a room full of passionate supporters, the campaign is officially underway. Stay tuned—this is just the beginning.
