WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) announced her appointment as the Vice Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, where she will serve alongside Ranking Member Gerry Connolly (VA-11). Additionally, Crockett, who is in her second term as a member of the Oversight Committee, will serve on the Subcommittee on the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
“One day into the Trump presidency, Elon Musk and the billionaire class are already getting a return on their investment: Donald Trump has signed more first-day Executive Orders than any President in history, targeted at our citizenship rights, civil rights, consumer rights, and our rights to clean air and water, “ said Rep. Crockett. “But even before Donald Trump returned to the White House, my House Republican colleagues had already shown themselves unable or unwilling to push back on his radical rhetoric and poisonous policies. If Donny says jump, they ask ‘How high?’ (unless Elon makes an ask—then they don’t know which one to serve, but neither happen to be their constituents). Given their cowardice, House Oversight Committee Democrats will remind the American people that we understand we work for them and not at the pleasure of millionaires and billionaires. We will demand accountability of the Executive Branch and provide the legislative check as required by our Constitution.
“As a Member of the House Oversight Committee in the 118th Congress, I worked with my Democratic colleagues to use this often-ignored Committee as the platform for some of the most effective take-downs of Republican lies and misinformation in the entire Congress – much to the chagrin of our Committee Chairman, James Comer.
