DART Provides Bus Connections for Green Line and DCTA Riders During Construction at Downtown Carrollton Station

Temporary Service Adjustments Scheduled for January 4, Ensuring Seamless Transit Options

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Green Line and Denton County Transit Authority (DCTA) A-train passengers will encounter temporary service adjustments on Saturday, Jan. 4, due to construction at the Downtown Carrollton Station.

The interruption is necessary to facilitate the installation of a steel elevator tower connecting the new DART Silver Line station to the existing pedestrian bridge at the Green Line Downtown Carrollton Station. To complete this construction safely, the overhead contact system on both tracks will be de-energized, halting Green Line service during the installation process.

Bus Bridge Service to Ensure Continuity

DART will implement a bus bridge to maintain connectivity for riders during the temporary service disruption. The bus bridge will link passengers to Farmers Branch Station to the south, Trinity Mills Station—providing access to DCTA’s A-train—and North Carrollton/Frankford Station to the north. Buses will operate every 20 minutes in each direction from 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, to 2 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5.

“Safety is paramount when working on a construction project like this,” said Trey Walker, DART vice president of capital design and construction. “While it’s necessary to temporarily suspend Green Line operations, we’re committed to ensuring our customers reach their destinations through this bus bridge service safely and efficiently.”

DART Bus Operations will manage the bus bridge, with concierges stationed at affected locations to guide passengers and assist with the connection process. Echo Transport will provide coach buses for this service.

Green Line service will resume early Sunday morning, Jan. 5. The first northbound train from Dallas will arrive at Farmers Branch Station at 4:06 a.m., while the first southbound train from North Carrollton/Frankford Station will depart at 4:28 a.m.

DCTA’s A-train service will not experience interruptions. However, passengers needing to connect to DART’s Green Line will utilize the bus bridge at Trinity Mills Station. DCTA’s A-train operates hourly on Saturdays and does not provide Sunday service.

“We are pleased that the A-train service is not impacted during this work, and we encourage our passengers to utilize the bus bridge to connect to the DART Green Line,” said DCTA CEO, Paul Cristina. “We appreciate everyone’s patience during the construction and are committed, along with DART, to enhancing the passenger experience with this important project.”

Enhancing Regional Connectivity

The completed elevator tower will provide a seamless connection between the new Silver Line station and the Green Line’s aerial platform. DCTA plans to extend its service to Downtown Carrollton in the future, enhancing access for Denton County riders to the city’s vibrant area and the forthcoming Silver Line.

The Silver Line is a 26-mile regional rail project crossing seven cities—Addison, Carrollton, Coppell, Dallas, Grapevine, Plano, and Richardson—across three counties. Once operational, the Silver Line will connect East Plano to DFW Airport’s Terminal B. DART anticipates launching Silver Line revenue service in late 2025 to early 2026.
