Dallas to Host 2026 FIFA World Cup Broadcast Center

Dallas will play a major role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by hosting the International Broadcast Center (IBC) at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.

Dallas will play a major role in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by hosting the International Broadcast Center (IBC) at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center. The event is expected to bring between 3,000 and 5,000 broadcasters and staff to the city.

The Dallas City Council has approved a $15 million investment to upgrade the convention center to meet the technical demands of the IBC. While concerns have been raised about the center’s demolition in the coming years, city officials believe the upgrades will pay off through convention fees and hotel occupancy taxes generated by the influx of broadcasters and staff.

Monica Paul, executive director of the Dallas Sports Commission, expressed her excitement, stating, “This will be the largest World Cup ever, the largest sporting event ever, and Dallas gets to welcome thousands of visitors. It’s a chance to highlight everything we love about our city—from our restaurants to our businesses and attractions. With broadcasters from around the globe focused on Dallas, this is an incredible opportunity to elevate our city on an international stage.”

In addition to the IBC, Dallas is in discussions with FIFA about hosting other World Cup-related operations, such as team base camps, a volunteer center, and a ticketing hub. Further details are expected in early 2024.

The IBC will not only bring global attention to Dallas but also provide a significant economic boost as the city becomes a key media hub for the 2026 World Cup.
