The South Oak Cliff Bears made a loud statement Friday night, routing Argyle 37-3 to claim a spot in their fourth straight state championship. Behind a ferocious defense, the Bears allowed only a field goal, limiting Argyle to 134 total yards, and forced three turnovers, including a pick-six by Arkansas commit Jayden Shelton before halftime.

Offensively, quarterback Carter Kopecky led the charge with 124 passing yards and a touchdown. Running back Damond “Deebo” Williams added 41 rushing yards and spoke about the team’s focus throughout the week: “More of the preparation this week was to get the mindset, the mentality that we still have work to finish.”

Head coach Jason Todd echoed the team’s dedication, emphasizing the bigger picture: “These kids stayed motivated and locked in all week in practice, and they understood what the big picture was. It wasn’t just to win a fourth or fifth-round game. It was to get to the state championship and win. They got the job done, and now we’ve got to finish it off.”

This win extends South Oak Cliff’s dominance, having won every game this season by at least 28 points. With Williams’ words, “We back,” the Bears are proving their doubters wrong and are now focused on finishing the job as they prepare to face undefeated Randall (14-0) in the state championship next weekend.
