Wilmer hosts “Picture Wilmer 2040” drop-in sessions for community involvement

WILMER – It has been several years since the City of Wilmer initiated its long-range planning effort called the Picture Wilmer 2040 Plan.

Picture Wilmer 2040’s overall purpose has been to not only assure future plans continue to align with the community vision for the city, but it is also the city’s tool to update the Wilmer community (Comprehensive Plan) regarding ongoing future growth and development in the city.

Last week, with that goal in mind, Wilmer hosted two public drop-in sessions on Sept. 11 and 12 at its Community Center encouraging residents to offer input and concerns.

These drop-in sessions for Picture Wilmer 2040 highlighted the Belt Line Corridor and Town Center Study. Staff, with the Project Consultant Team on hand to answer questions.

“We appreciate the response we had last week by our residents who offered excellent comments and ask insightful questions that will assure Picture Wilmer 2040 is a success for all,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta.

The Picture Wilmer 2040 Plan consists of three phrases; the Vision Plan, which focuses on the long-range vision of the City and its direction; the Comprehensive Plan that provides information outlining the necessary goals to meet future growth with measurable actions; and the Town Center and Belt Line Corridor Study, which details the future vision for this important development in the region.
