Shelomi Sanders, daughter of Deion Sanders, is preparing to restart her college basketball career once again at a different SWAC HBCU.

The former Jackson State guard recently opened up about her move to Alabama A&M after spending last season at Colorado.

She spoke with TS4T  about the decision to leave Colorado after one year, with help from her mother, Pilar Sanders.

“I don’t want to say anything too bad,” Sanders said on a livestream. “It just wasn’t good energy. It wasn’t good vibes. There wasn’t enough being poured into me as a player and young lady. If I didn’t leave when I did, I promise you I would’ve quit.”

Shelomi Sanders spent one season at Colorado, after her father, Deion Sanders, was hired as its head football coach.

Her decision to join the JSU women’s basketball team aligned with her father’s role as the head football coach there. During her time at Jackson State, Shelomi appeared in two games but had limited playing time, averaging just one point per game.

Following Deion Sanders’ departure from Jackson State to coach at the University of Colorado, Shelomi transferred to Colorado as well. However, her stint there was also brief and marked by limited opportunities on the court. She played in only five games, logging a total of 11 minutes, and recorded minimal stats.

Shelomi entered the transfer portal again following her lone season at Colorado, seeking more playing time and a fresh start. She returned to the HBCU circuit, committing to Alabama A&M University under the guidance of new head coach Dawn Thornton.
