This prestigious award, which recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the state’s 20 region Education Service Centers, is a result of a rigorous nomination and selection process.

School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions, based on their exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.

As a Region 10 winner, Creel can now compete for the state title of Texas Principal of the Year.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to be selected as the TASSP Region 10 Principal of the Year,” said Creel. “This award is not just about me; it’s about my staff, students, and community that put their heart and soul into making Sachse High School a great place.”

Creel, an 8-year principal, has been on a journey of growth and leadership since he took the helm at Sachse High School in 2016. He attended East Texas State University and earned a bachelor’s degree. Creel then pursued further education at Texas A&M—Commerce University, where he was awarded a Master of Education in Education Administration. He sees himself as a risk-taker, a visionary, and a leader of learners.

“As I enter my 28th year in the district, this recognition underscores GISD’s commitment to nurturing leaders from within and serves as a catalyst for the next generation of principals to strive for excellence and success.”

Each regional winner, including Creel, will be honored at the prestigious Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner, a highlight of the TASSP Summer Conference held annually in June.

They will each receive an award and be featured in a commemorative book titled Texas Principals, Texas Heroes, further cementing their status as exemplary leaders in the educational community.
