Texas Democrats Respond to Donald Trump’s RNC Speech

AUSTIN, Texas – Donald Trump on the final night of the Republican National Convention attempted to try and distance himself from his extremism, his inflammatory rhetoric and his ties to his dangerous Project 2025 agenda. He failed.

Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa released the following statement:

“Tonight, we saw Trump diving back into his extremism. We were reminded again that this is the same man who overturned Roe, led an insurrection on our nation’s Capital and siloed the middle class in favor of extremist billionaires.

“Trump and J.D. Vance, along with the Texas GOP and the entire Republican Party, will fully embrace and implement Project 2025 – a policy plan designed to give MAGA more power over our daily life, gut democratic checks and balances, and consolidate power in the Oval Office.

“Here in Texas, we’re already seeing the effects of this dangerous agenda where our rights are under constant attack and our democratic institutions are being undermined. This November, Texans will elect leaders that champion unity, freedom and democracy. Texans deserve leaders who will protect their freedoms and prioritize their needs – not those who seek to impose an extremist vision on our state and nation.”
