A man facing murder charges in a fatal 2023 Red Bird shooting was seen with another suspect shooting at the victim before driving away, an arrest-warrant affidavit said.

Justin Greer, 28, was arrested last week and charged with murder in the March 2023 shooting death of Shamiron Knight, 25. According to police, officers responded around 1:20 p.m. March 24, 2023, to the 6900 block of Marvin D. Love Freeway, near West Camp Wisdom Road, and found Knight suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead from his injuries.

According to the affidavit, witnesses told police they witnessed one man shooting at Greer, while another man seen with him was shot in the leg before both fled in a silver sedan. Police later learned a man matching the description of one of the men was admitted to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, the affidavit said.

Police went to the hospital and interviewed the man, identified as Greer, the affidavit said. Greer was interviewed by police as a witness, and he told police the other man shot Knight before they both fled, the affidavit said.

Three days later, police obtained surveillance footage which showed both Greer and the other man shooting at Knight, before Greer suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, the affidavit said. Police then obtained a warrant for Greer’s arrest the same day.

The affidavit does not say how Greer was shot during the incident. The affidavit does not identify the second shooter.

Greer remained in the Dallas County jail Friday on $100,000 bond. It was unclear if he had an attorney.
