Arkansas-Pine Bluff high jumper Caleb Snowden rode a personal-best performance to a second-place finish in the event at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

After two failed attempts, Snowden cemented his second-place finish with a 2.27m jump, beating out his previous high of 2.26m.

Although the UAPB athlete does not have the Olympic standard of 2.33m, he can still make the U.S. Olympic team through the World Athletics Rankings.

The Olympic Entry Standard is 50% based on achieving the Olympic time/measurement standard and 50% on where an athlete ranks at the end of the World Athletic Ranking period, which ends today.

Entering today’s final, Snowden sat at 64th overall among all high jump athletes and the seventh-ranked high jumper in the United States.

On July 2, the World Athletics will confirm all qualified athletes for individual and relay events.
