Ray Warren fondly called by family, friends and care givers “Uncle Ray” was born March 25, 1936 to the union of Anderson and Margarite Warren in Greenville, Mississippi. Ray had ten siblings including a twin sister Fay.

Ray always wanted to be a barber.  He moved to New York and went to New York Barber School, he was trained and learned the skill in everything from precision haircutting, shaving and grooming. Ray owned and operated Warren’s Barbershop in Queens New York.  He had a strong work ethic, a sharp intellect, and charismatic charm. He was a “ray” of sunshine for his customers and enjoyed being a barber until he retired.

Ray never married, but was in a long relationship and had one son, Michael Pope.

In 2014 Ray moved to Texas to live with and be cared for his niece Valerie Warren Thompson and her husband Maurice. Uncle Ray had a great sense of humor and there was never a dull moment with him. He would make some of the silliest jokes and always had everyone laughing.

When we think of Uncle Ray we will celebrate the good memories we have of him. Life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest and that is what we did when we moved Uncle Ray to live with us in Texas.

Our heavenly Father, the maker and creator of us all, calls His saints one by one to receive indwelling power from above without looking back to ponder the trials and tribulations of this present age. Uncle Ray peacefully passed from this life April 2, 2024, He will be missed more than any words could express but he will be forever in our hearts.  He leaves to cherish fond memories, his loving caretaker and niece Valerie (Maurice),  a very dear friend Pat Worthy Muizz (New York) and a host of nieces and nephews.
