Santa Visits Red Bird Mall

Santa and his helpers found their way to local children in 2020, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. For the 10th straight year, kids and their families were able to see Santa Claus at Red Bird Mall on W. Camp Wisdom Road in Dallas, but with precautions.

“During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are following all CDC, city and state guidelines to make Santa and his helpers available to the children,” said Lisa Long, Red Bird Mall General Manager.

Santa was housed behind a special plexiglass box but took photos and was able to talk with the children to determine who was “naughty or nice” this year. Santa was also assisted by DPD officers who work off duty at the mall and volunteer every year.

Originally constructed in 1975, Red Bird Mall was once known as a vibrant community landmark but struggled in recent years through financial problems and a lack of national retail tenants. Despite the pandemic, developers plan to turn the former Southwest Center Mall into a high-class mixed-use development.
