NAACP urges voters to go to polls

There are some highly contested races and residents from Dallas and Collin Counties were in full attendance as candidates on the March 5, 2024 Texas Primary Ballots took the stage at the Annual NAACP Winter Ball in Garland.

It was Meet the Candidates Night and candidates were poised and actively seeking votes.

Both Democratic and Republican candidates stated why they were the best candidate to represent citizens from the DFW Metroplex.

Republican activist Shelly Akerly and Democratic activist Kenneth Williams served as moderators during the candidate presentations.

Following the candidate presentations, guests enjoyed entertainment from the Cedric Barrett Concept and danced the night away. A highly anticipated annual event, this year was not a disappointment as guests took photos at the elegant Red Heart Balloon Display and the 360 photo booth presented by Entertainment by JC.

The 23rd Annual Winter Ball was held February 16 at the Hyatt Place in Garland, TX. Ricky C. McNeal serves as president of the NAACP Garland Unit and Gwendolyn H. Daniels chairs the Annual Winter Ball.
