Making it Plain: A Conversation with Dr. Fauci and the Black Community on December 8th

People of color who are debating whether to take a new COVID-19 vaccine should tune in to an upcoming broadcast to get answers to pressing questions about the safety of the inoculation, black leaders say.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, African Americans are disproportionately affected by COVID-19 infection and are twice as likely to die from the virus when compared to their White counterparts.

Still, many African Americans distrust an impending COVID-19 vaccine, experts say, because of lingering and historical concerns over medical malpractice and racism.

To address concerns over the safety of COVID-19 vaccines, one of the most trusted voices in medicine, Dr. Anthony Fauci, will sit on a panel with Howard University president Dr. Wayne A. I. Frederick, National Urban League President Marc Morial and other African-American leaders to discuss COVID-19’s devastating impact on the Black community and what should happen next.
