Garland ISD Education Foundation Receives $25,000 Donation to Launch Student Scholarship

In addition to powering our community, Atmos Energy is also now powering the future of Garland ISD students. Atmos Energy recently donated $25,000 to the Garland ISD Education Foundation (GEF), which will be used to launch an endowment for continuing-education scholarships.

“We are honored and grateful that Atmos Energy provided the inaugural gift to the GEF Endowment Fund,” said GEF President and District Initiatives Liaison Lisa Cox. “Atmos has supported GEF for many years, and this generous donation is the next step in their continued investment in Garland ISD’s students, staff and tri-city community.”

A partner of more than 10 years, Atmos Energy provides funds for GEF’s annual teaching grants and also sponsors special events. This pledge for increased support came after GEF’s Board of Directors voted to create the endowment to help sustain the Foundation’s mission to enrich education and reward innovation.

“We are proud to partner with the Garland ISD Education Foundation to launch their endowment,” said Eva Hummel, Atmos Energy manager of public affairs. “Through our Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program, Atmos Energy is committed to ensuring all students have the opportunity for higher education for years to come.”

Atmos Energy’s donation will be used to fund an annual $1,000 scholarship for a GISD senior pursuing a career in education, health care or as a first responder. For more information about giving to GEF or applying for scholarships, please visit www.garlandisdedfoundation.org
