LeEtta Constance Houston (August 4, 1960 – October 29, 2023)

On August 4, 1960, I was born to AD and Eugenia Watson Houston. My number was eighth of eight for my Houston family and I was blessed with the same number eighth place in my Cooper family.

In fact, the Coopers brought me home from the hospital to an overstuffed chair since my mom was discharged later. We were all taught about God’s love, family, and the ethics of hard work.

We were also taught to count on each other, practice kindness, and help as many people as we could, while we could; and I hope my life has been a testament to that. I began my education in the Ft. Worth School District and later moved to Dallas where I finished my education.

I worked in healthcare and property management until my health began to decline. However, as much as I enjoyed my career, my life’s greatest blessings came from being a mother to my two wonderful daughters. Sheretta and Kendra brought me such joy, and provided excellent support, love, and care throughout my lengthy illness.

My spiritual foundation was laid at a very young age, and I was a member of Dayspring Family Church pastored by Bishop Kevin Dickerson. For those who knew me well, it is no secret that I loved good music and dancing.

During the most difficult times of illness, my family was my greatest support system, even when it wasn’t apparent, I was grateful for their help, advice, and assistance. Nevertheless, there was never any doubt of how much we loved and appreciated each other. God granted me many wonderful years in this life, and for that I was thankful.

My parents, my granddaughter Heaven, my brother Clarence, and sister Marget preceded me in death. Those left to cherish my memories include my daughters, Sheretta Mason (Derrick) and Kendra Adams; my grandchildren Angel, Joshua, Aurion and Adriel; my sisters, Bettie, Gloria, Marilyn (Arthur), Cecelia, Felicia and Brenda (Ronald), and my brother, Alvin, God children Laytricia Towery, Gabrielle Twyman and Tyrell Tippet, along with my special sisters Lannie, Sarah, Rita, Jill; Teresa and a host of nieces, nephews, remaining family and friends.
