Time to Celebrate our Principals

By Allana J. Barefield

October is National Principal Appreciation Month and it’s time to give thanks to the individuals who are leading the way.

Louisiana native Marlon Brooks has worked as an educator for 29 years, beginning as a teacher in 1992 and today he is the principal of L.G. Pinkston High School where he is the longest-serving principal for Dallas ISD.

Currently, Brooks has been helping A. Maceo Smith High School with plans to transition their students to Wilmer Hutchins High School.

Throughout his career, he said his main goal has been to get students to grow.

“The school is often the heart of a community, a place of greatness for the community, and it’s our job as educators to serve that community and to make sure that what we offer is the best for that community,” Brooks said.
