Bessie Lee Lusk II, age 78 a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2023, at Country Meadow Nursing and Rehab Facility. Born on February 24, 1945, in Pursley, Texas- Navarro County. She was the sixth child of Jessie Lee Lusk and Bessie Lee (Williams) Lusk.
Bessie spent her early years in Dawson, Texas, and later settled in Malakoff in 1965. In 1986, she moved with her mother to Fort Worth. In 2018, Bessie found a loving and caring home at Country Meadow Nursing and Rehab Facility.
She was an extraordinary individual who left a lasting impact on all those who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her vibrant personality and infectious laughter could brighten any room, leaving a lasting impression on everyone’s hearts.
A unique quality of Bessie was her way of affirming statements. She had a remarkable ability to validate and acknowledge the thoughts and feelings of others by repeating what was said to her. Her affirmations were a testament to her kind and attentive nature, making everyone feel they were seen and heard.
Family meant everything to Bessie. Her love for her family knew no bounds. Her presence at family gatherings brought a sense of warmth and togetherness. She cherished her relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her parents, and her role as a daughter, sister, and aunt. Despite her disability preventing her from reading, she never forgot to carry her Bible to church, and her collection of Bibles held a special place in her heart.
In her leisure time, Bessie found joy in engaging in various activities. Spending time with her family, pursuing craft activities, and watching TV Western shows like “The Rifleman,” “Bonanza,” and her favorite, “Gun Smoke,” brought her immense pleasure. She also found comfort in watching sports and wrestling, appreciating the simple pleasures of life.
Her infectious laugh and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though her departure has left a void that cannot be filled, her memory will forever be cherished. Her legacy of love and laughter will continue to inspire and guide us. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace.
Bessie is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Lee Lusk and Bessie Lee (Williams) Lusk, s well as her brothers Gene Lusk, Jessie (Daniel) Lusk Jr., and adopted brother Freddy Driver and sisters Lunetta Driver and Arnell Watson.
She is survived by her brother Howard J. Lusk (Annie) of Fort Worth, TX, and sisters Leaver Sims (Alfred) of Corsicana, Texas, and Janie McCalister (Spatsie) of Fort Worth, TX. She is also survived by adopted brothers Prince, Lonnie, Terrance, Danny, Howard Driver, as well as numerous nieces,nephews, and cousins.
