Kitchen is Heating Up at the Dallas Arboretum

Get your cooking on at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden where cooking classes and demos are being offered for anyone who wants to hone their skills.

All classes are held every Monday at 11 am at A Tasteful Place which is a 3.5-acre pavilion and kitchen in the garden. The goal of the classes is for locals to learn how to eat healthier and consume locally-grown food.

“One of our missions was to be able to teach people about seasonal fruits and how to use them in your kitchen or maybe grow your own vegetables,” said Marcela Castillo, public events manager at the Arboretum.

The cooking classes are centered around holidays to integrate different cultural foods but also seasonal items like pumpkins or squash, due to the Autumn season.

“We have pumpkin recipes for you, we’re pulling out all the stops so when you come to the garden there’s something for you,” Castillo said.
