DFW’s Urban League Young Professionals

Dallas-Fort Worth Urban League Young Professionals continues to give back with a focus on leadership development, civic engagement and serving the community.

“It’s about advocacy, economic empowerment, it’s about community outreach,” said Reuben Lael, national communications chair of DFWULP, which is an auxiliary chapter of the Houston Area Urban League and the National Urban League Young Professionals.

The organization has been encouraging voters to head to the polls for early voting and on October 17 they will have a Pack the Polls caravan to inspire voters to get out and cast their ballot. Through that effort last year, from the months of August to October they registered 532 people to register to vote.

“Your momma, your uncle, your auntie, everybody at the polls, we want to do this together,” Lael said. “Arrive with five, so you can vote and plan to bring someone with you.”

The group targets professionals from the ages of 21 to 40 to be involved. The Urban League was founded in 1910 and is the oldest and largest community organization committed to African Americans development. For DFWULP to continue the work and legacy, they are always looking for other professionals to join.
