Richard Clark, Jr.

Pastor Richard Clark was born August 15, 1969 to Richard Clark, Sr. and Lynn Clark in Los Angeles, California, the youngest of three children.  Anointed by God, Pastor Clark was both a dynamic preacher and teacher of the Word of God. His passion to lead people to love God through His Word was Pastor Clark’s main goal. He sought to teach and inspire growth in those he served as well as his peers in the Gospel.

At the age of 16, Pastor Clark came to The Living Gospel Church in Los Angeles, as a member seeking more of God, and there he received the baptism of the Holy Ghost.  He received his call to the ministry at the age of 19 under the leadership of Bishop P.H. Jefferson. In 1999, under Bishop D.L. Jones, Pastor Clark received his assignment to pastor in DeRidder, Louisiana. In 2000, Bishop Jones assigned him to Dallas to work under Pastor Emanuel Jones. In 2008, when Pastor Emanuel Jones was assigned to pastor the Los Angeles assembly, he became the pastor of the Dallas assembly, where he constantly strived to encourage and uplift the people of God. In November 2022, he was appointed as Overseer of the Living Gospel Churches.

Pastor Clark’s emphasis was on the need for spiritual growth and development through the teaching of God’s Word. This resulted in the dramatic increase of attendance in both Sunday and midweek services. Pastor Clark’s desire was to see God’s people overcome, and he dedicated himself working to promote that mission. This included serving as the Fellowship’s International Youth Pastor, facilitating seminars/summits focused on strengthening marriages and the unmarried, and mentoring aspiring ministers, who he empowered to develop their spiritual gifts. Pastor Clark led with a servant’s heart that reached out to those seeking salvation and a greater enlightenment in the Word.

Pastor Clark’s vision and goal was to be an effective witness to the power of God and His Sovereignty. His mission to expand the Kingdom of God abroad was of utmost importance to him.  Locally, Pastor Clark was assertive when it came to reaching the community through vehicles, such as the church’s witnessing team and various other auxiliaries. He believed and lived by Matthew 6:33: “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”  He believed and taught that the safest place to minister was from the Word of God. As his life was submitted to the will of God, Pastor Clark was confident that not only would his life be blessed, but the lives of those who followed him would be also.  Pastor Richard Clark was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lynn Clark and his sister, Tammy Clark. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 30 years, Sonya and his daughter, Sarena Martin (LaDaryon), and a host of family members. He will be sorely missed by the Mesquite assembly, The Living Gospel Fellowship, and the Body of Christ at large.
