Doctor’s appointments can be scary, which causes some individuals to try dodging their annual checkups, but Methodist Charlton Medical Center is trying to help by taking the pressure off, with mammogram checks going mobile.

The Mammogram trucks are located at different places in the city, spreading a message of  the importance of testing for breast cancer.

Methodist has partnered with Mammogram Poster Girls, Inc., a nonprofit that raises funds to provide mammogram exams free of charge to uninsured women who will have a chance to go into the pink trucks and take the exam onsite.

Different restaurants are also welcoming the truck as customers grab their food and take care of their health. One participant was, Soul2Soul Southern Kitchen, in Duncanville, and customers were happy to see the owners be involved in the community.

“I believe with our race, the African American race, we really do have to take in consideration of really going into the doctor and getting a regular checkup and not waiting too late,” Latasha Williams, owner of Soul2Soul Southern Kitchen, said. “Some people really don’t go because they don’t have the money.”
