Dominic “Nico” Slaughter was born on May 14, 1989, in Dallas, Texas. He is the only son of Sherrye Slaughter and grandson of Judy Slaughter and Charles “Skeeter” Slaughter. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a youth member of the Community First Baptist Church youth choir. As an adult, he joined Hope of Glory Community Church in Dallas, Texas under leadership of Pastor Harry Garrett.

Dominic loved football and excelled on the field from the age of 6 beginning with the Oak Cliff Hurricanes and later, the TW Browne Trojans, Kimball Knights and Hillcrest Panthers. He is a graduate of Hillcrest High School (Class of 2007). He often made the weekly sports highlights and was a crowd favorite. His competitive spirit also followed him in the classroom, and he was well loved by his friends and classmates. He later attended Navarro College from 2007-2008.

Affectionately known as “Nico”, he is the only boy of four siblings. He loved being a brother and his love for his mother, grandmother and sisters was always present. In later years, his favorite position became “Dad” and “Uncle”, and he shared a special bond with his children, nieces, and nephews. He loved to make people laugh and have fun and he will be remembered for his low key but magnetic personality which helped him thrive in his customer service career.

Nico departed this earthly life on August 8, 2023. He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, the late Reverend R.M. Jackson Jr. and his great-grandmothers, Peggy Jackson, Christine Jackson, and Mable Slaughter Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories: his beautiful daughters, Endiya, Elianna, Dominique, London and De’Arra; his mother, Sherrye Slaughter (Anthony); beloved sisters, Jaleesa, Skiler, and Zarreia; grandparents, Judy ‘Rose’ Slaughter and Charles Slaughter; nieces and nephews, Camryn, Logan, Madison, and Zy’aire; uncle, Cartney Slaughter (Desha); aunt, Chasidi Slaughter; cousins, Courtney, Devyn, and Cassidy, along with a host of other relatives and friends. Just like in football, Nico loved the rush of living life and now he has made it into God’s endzone. We love him and will miss him dearly.
