By Allana J. Barefield

Dallas ISD has recently become involved in a nationwide effort with other leaders to spark ideas to help achieve equity in education, with the Inaugural Century Foundation’s Bridges Collaborative Cohort which will focus on topics such as class and race.

“Our team is very excited to be included in the national dialogue on using school integration strategies to create more inclusive schools,” said Deputy Chief, Angie Gaylord.

The Cohort is composed of about 50 organizations that will function in charter schools, district schools and fair-housing leaders.

“We look forward to leading and learning in this very important work,” Gaylord said.

The cohort will be a two-year collaboration that will consist of trainings and national and regional meetings. The kickoff will be on October 15 with John B. King Jr., former Secretary of Education, as the guest speaker.
