Tuesday, September 22 is National Voter Registration Day and two local sports franchises are doing their part to ensure everyone is ready to vote on Election Day November 3.
The Texas Legends, the Dallas Mavericks’ NBA G-League team, will host a voter registration event at the Comerica Center in Frisco. On the 22nd, community members can stop by the northeast corner of the arena between 12-2 pm or 4-6 pm to get registered. They will also have the opportunity to submit their registrations directly to a Volunteer Deputy Registrar or take a mail-in card.
Legends President and General Manager Malcolm Farmer said all members of their staff have been trained and certified to register voters.
“We are committed to voter registration as part of our civic engagement initiative so we wanted to host an event that will allow people to easily check registration off their lists,” he said. “We want to make sure our community knows their voices matter.”

The Dallas Mavericks are also hosting a Voter Registration Drive-Thru at Mavs Headquarters, 1333 N. Stemmons Fwy in Dallas from 7 am to 2 pm Volunteers on September 22, and staff will be registering people on the spot.
“Every voice matters,” said Mark Cuban, Mavs owner. “Every citizen has the fundamental right to vote in the election and we are doing our part by offering up the largest polling place in the county. We encourage everyone to register who is eligible and vote early starting October 13.”
In order to vote in this year’s election, you must be a U.S. citizen and 18 years old by Election Day, Nov. 3, 2020.
Those interested in registering to vote must bring a TX ID number (TX Driver’s License or TX Personal ID) or last 4 digits of your Social Security Number.
The deadline to register to vote in this year’s election is October 5. Early voting begins October 13 and ends October 30.
