UNCF Dallas Announces Co-Chairs for the North Texas/Oklahoma Walk for Education

Dallas, TX (July 25, 2023)—UNCF Dallas (United Negro College Fund) is proud to announce Lauren and Tré Black as the co-chairs for the 2023 North Texas/Oklahoma Walk for Education® to help raise funds for students of color across North Texas who are trying to get to and through college.

Lauren Black is the deputy administrator of Bureau B of Dallas County District Attorney’s Office. As part of the administration, Lauren supervises several divisions, assists with creating and implementing policies for the office, and takes high profile cases to trial.

Lauren is licensed by the State Bar of Texas and the United States Supreme Court. She serves on boards of the Dallas Bar Association and the JL Turner Legal Association in both roles as director. Lauren graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas and Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

Tré Black is the president & CEO of On-Target Supplies & Logistics, Ltd., a regional logistics management firm with global customers and international responsibilities. On-Target provides outsourced logistics services to a diverse set of corporations, who are seeking greater efficiency to their supply chains. Tré is a Dallas native and Baylor University graduate.

Tré is a proven business, community and civic leader. He currently serves on the advisory boards of Truist Bank, Baylor University Medical Center, and the Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Blacks recognize the disparity of opportunities for students of color to gain access to college and successfully earn a degree is progressively high. They understand the new barriers being faced as college institutions are now unable to take race into account when seeking to create a diverse environment for learners and how it will impact admissions selections, and therefore, impact the corporate America pipeline of diverse and exceptional talent.

More than ever students will need to apply to historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs)to ensure they will receive a higher education. UNCF is committed to meeting the increased demand and empowering students to earn college degrees and career success. We need your help so that UNCF and HBCUs can bridge the education gap and combat this inequality.
