Recreation Centers Open Virtual Hubs for Students

By Allana J. Barefield
Staff Writer

Virtual learning hubs are now opened at recreation centers, and the City of Dallas and Dallas Parks and Recreation want to focus on helping students who are in grades 1 through 6.

The premise of these hubs is for students to keep on track with their assignments and to log onto their classes. These virtual learning hubs will be supervised and Dallas parks employees will assist if there are any technical difficulties.

Recreational activities will also be provided during classroom downtime.

The hubs will be opened from Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm In order to participate, each student must register on-site and have a valid Dallas Recreation card.

COVID-19 precautions are in place, and each student must wear their mask, bring their lunch, and the necessary technology to access their classes. Various recreation centers, including the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center and Larry Johnson Recreation Center, are open.
