Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) has begun installing face mask and hand sanitizer dispensers on all buses, light rail vehicles and streetcars. DART also plans to have dispensers available to assist customers on more than 600 buses, 160 light rail vehicles and four Dallas streetcars by early September. The mask and hand sanitizer dispensers are being installed in addition to DART’s cleaning and safety protocols that are already in place agency-wide in response to the Coronavirus.
“Many North Texans rely on public transportation to get to work, go to the doctor and run essential errands,” said 32nd Congressional District Representative Colin Allred in a statement on Facebook. “Dallas Area Rapid Transit (Official DART page) is working to make sure folks can ride safely, stay healthy and help stop the spread of COVID-19.”
The agency is also removing vehicles from service that have been exposed to biohazard situations from passengers. Any passenger that notices an unhygienic surface that needs attention can contact DART Customer Service at 214-979-1111, or use the “DART Say Something” app which can be downloaded from the Apple Store or Google Play for free.
