Kay F. Walker

September 23, 1942 – January 12, 2023

Kay F. Walker
Kay Frances Walker, was a true blessing to those who encountered her wonderful loving nature, she embodied kindness, sweetness, childlike innocence, and love, all throughout her life. Her life story as the only child of Sue Williams is akin to a storybook of a woman who lived an incredibly rich life filled with wonderful friends, family, sorors, and church members. A life driven by an unshakable faith in the power of God and love. A Special Gift Kay was Good Street’s’ sweetheart and a doting Mother, and Grandmother. She had the  special gift of warmth and connection and stayed on the phone, constantly, calling her loved ones, and engaging in friendly conversations. Her network of friends was vast and worldwide and she touched all who encountered her. Her Family and Life Her greatest loves were her mother, Sue Williams, and her late husband of 52 years, Wayland Walker. When her two grandsons, Mitchell and Anson came into her life, she was fundamentally changed. Joy is an understatement in describing how she felt about her two grandsons. As a mother, she nurtured Eric and Kevin, and taught them through her example of commitment, loyalty, faith, and kindness. Her career in education and speech pathology did not define her, her life was defined by her loyalty to her family, and loyalty to her Mother. She also loved being a part of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Her home reflected that love with its abundance of elephant figurines and DST paraphernalia. In her spiritual life, she was raised in, and shaped by her Good Street Baptist Church community, Good Street was the bedrock of her spiritual and communal life. The incredible sweet spirit of Kay Frances Walker changed lives forever, and that spirit lives on in her children and grandchildren. She left the world a better place through her unconditional love and childlike sweet nature. She will be tremendously missed, but we are all comforted in the fact that she lived a good and full  life. Descendants and Loved Ones She is survived by her two sons, Eric and Kevin Walker, daughter in law, Dawn Skinner-Walker, grandsons, Anson and Mitchell, countless Walker nieces and nephews, and her extended families of the Williams’, Ballard’s, Bausley’s, Brooks’, Greene’s, Maloney’s, Wright’s, and Skinner’s.
