Singing Hills Funeral Home

Ida Bea Jones, born Mary Francis Ashley, on July 20, 1954, in Dallas County, was the daughter of the late Elder Johnny Burnett Jackson, Sr. and Annette Ashley, who preceded her in death. Ida was the older sister of Johnny Burnett Jackson, Jr., and Charles Ray Jackson.

Ida was raised in Kerens, TX by her father’s mother known as “Little Mama” and matriculated through Kerens Independent School District until the eighth grade. She later moved back to Dallas, TX to live with her parents and siblings where she attended South Oak Cliff High School and went on to graduate with academic honors in 1972. She was a force to be reckoned with; from playing point guard on the basketball team to taking up for her brother and cousins when they were bullied. Ida respectfully earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management and started her career in the banking industry in her mid-20’s, then went on to work at various companies displaying her leadership and accomplished professional results until her retirement from corporate in her early 50’s.

Shortly after graduating high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Edwin Jones in 1973. In 1976, they welcomed their son, Rodrick Jones, who precedes her in death. She went on to birth two amazing daughters, Keeshla LaShawn (Jones) McDuff in 1977, and Dyneshia Jones in 1979. Ida never met a stranger with her poised and calm demeanor. There are many remarkable things to say about Ida, but most importantly, she was a God-fearing woman that believed in the power of prayer. She accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of Pastor B.R. McGowan at Greater St. Matthews Church of God in Christ in Dallas, TX. She went on to receive her Evangelist credentials in 1994 under the leadership of Pastor Ruby L. Hall of Miracle Deliverance Pentecostal Church in Dallas, TX.

Ida battled ovarian and brain cancer like a true warrior for the last few years. On Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 1:38 pm, Ida Bea Jones transitioned to her eternal life. There to greet her at the pearly gates were her parents, Johnny Burnett Jackson, Sr. and Annette Ashley Jackson, and her son Rodrick Jones.

She will forever be loved, cherished, and missed. She leaves to carry on her legacy: Keeshla L. (Jones) McDuff (Daughter) and Michael McDuff (Son-In-Law), Dyneshia Jones (Daughter), DeMarcus D. Jones (Grandson) whom she called (“Pumpkin”), Jade S. McDuff (Granddaughter) whom she called (“Girlie Girl”), and Jamera M. McDuff (Granddaughter) whom she called (“Sweetie”), Johnny B. Jackson, Jr. (Brother) and Kimberly Jackson (Sister-In-Law), Charles R. Jackson (Brother).
