Clifton

Clifton B. Carden Sr, 81 of Dallas, Texas was born October 10, 1941, to the parentage of H.C. Carden and Rita Bell Morgan from Fairfield, Texas. Clifton began his formative education in the Butler Consolidated School System in Butler, TX. He later moved to Dallas, TX and graduated from James Madison High School, Class of 1960.

Clifton accepted Christ at an early age. He became a member of Forest Avenue Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late R.N McCray and actively served under current leader Kalvin G. Burkley. Clifton was an ordained Deacon; served on the Senior Usher Board and sang in the Male Chorus.

Clifton worked at ACME Brick for over 30 years from where he retired, however, he didn’t stop there; he started a career at Palestine Concrete where he worked another 15 years and retired again. Safe to say, he was a hard worker. Clifton loved coaching little league football back in his day for the Oak Cliff Red Skins, going to Yellow Belly, cooking on the grill and playing dominoes. He would visit his brothers & sister often even if he didn’t stay long. Even when talking on the phone you knew when he was ready to end the call because he would say “Okey Dokey”, and that was your queue to hang up.

In 2001, Clifton met his beloved Shirley and fell in love with her. They exchanged their “I DO’S” in JANUARY 2003 and were together until he was called home on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

Clifton was welcomed into his eternal home by his parents, H.C. Carden and Rita Bell Morgan; brothers, Henry Clyde Carden and Bailey Lee Carden; nephew, Kevin Carden and son-in-law Willie Hunter.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife, Shirley Young-Carden; six children, Doris Green (Dwight, Sr.), Cassandra Hunter, Clifton Carden, Jr., Takima Persley (AP), LaQuardra Young and La’Taja Young; two brothers, Will Boyd Carden (Linda) and Jasper Wayne Carden (Loraine); sister, Mary Prater (Freeman); fifteen grandchildren, Byron Hunter, Meia Hunter, Aundaja Carden, Dwight Green, Jr., Barrington Green (Faith), Darius Green, KaShabrein Brown, Michael Henderson, Davondrick Miles, Darren Miles, Jayden Persley, Lamonte Carden, Destiny Taylor, Chloe Carden and Sincere Rutledge; fourteen great grandchildren, special nieces and nephew and a host of relatives and friends.
