LAUNCH OF BIG D READS ’22 AND THE CITYWIDE READING PROGRAM FOR THE ACCOMMODATION

The official launch of Big D Reads ’22: The Accommodation. 50+ community organizations including civic institutions, corporations, and nonprofits have volunteered to fund and host events centered around advancing equity, and to distribute 30,000 free paperback copies of The Accommodation, republished last September by local nonprofit Deep Vellum Publishing.

The launch event will feature an original work presented by Dallas’ first-ever poet laureate, Joaquin Zihuatanejo and a moving performance by the South Dallas Concert Choir. There will be remarks by author Jim Schutze, publisher Will Evans, library director Jo Guidice, and more – in additiojimn to breakfast and refreshments served by Break Bread, Break Borders. Plus, you’ll get a first look at the Dallas Public Library’s special Big D Reads interactive exhibit on Hamilton Park and upcoming Big D Reads programming.
