The 31-year-old Phoenix Mercury star was detained at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Feb. 17 after being arrested for having vape cartridges in her suitcase. Her trial began on July 1st. On Thursday she told the court that she packed vape cartridges accidentally and did not intend to break Russian law.

“I’d like to plead guilty, your honor. But there was no intent. I didn’t want to break the law,” Griner reportedly told the judge in English, which was then translated into Russian for the court.

Griner, a 2X Olympic gold medalist and Houston, Texas native will next appear at a court hearing scheduled for July 14. Griner faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
