Texas Democratic Party Co-Executive Director Jamarr Brown Released the following statement on Black History Month:

“Every month and every day of every year, Black history is an important part of American history and American life. Over the centuries, the contributions of Black Americans have shaped our state, our country, and our Democratic Party into what it is today.

“Texas Democrats celebrate Black History Month and remember those who came before us, honor their resilience, and uplift the ways Black Americans are the foundation of this great nation.

“From the fight for equal rights and social justice to pushing back against modern day Republican anti-voter efforts, Texas Democrats stand united in our continued struggles to restore justice in our great state. Texas Republicans’ new restrictive voting law is aimed at silencing our voices and blocking the votes of millions of people of color during the upcoming 2022 midterm election. There is also a movement by Texas Republicans to whitewash Black history and erase how their struggles have contributed to building this great country.  Now, more than ever we must do all we can to take back Texas.

“In honor of Black History month, I call on all Texas voters to exercise our most sacred right to vote during the 2022 primary and general elections. What better way to honor Black History Month and the courageous men and women who came before us than to fight for the preservation of their dream.

“The Texas Democratic Party will always stand united with our Black communities and all people of color.  We will remain committed in our fight to ensure all Texans are seen, heard, and valued.”
