Mavs Black History Month Art Contest

Art Contest

To honor Black History and inspire future change makers, the Dallas Mavericks are encouraging students in 8th-12th grade to create and submit a visual medium that interprets the beliefs of past and present black leaders and how they inspired others to unite and join hands for justice. Please share this with the youth that you serve and encourage them to apply.

Prizes:

  • Grand Prize winner will receive (2) Round Trip Airfares from American Airlines to visit a city that is rich in black history, such as New Orleans, Memphis, or Atlanta.
  • The Top (5) Artists and a guest will be invited to a suite night experience at the Dallas Mavericks vs. Utah Jazz Home Game March 7th at 6:30pm and be recognized during halftime.
  • The Top (5) Artists will have the opportunity for their art to be displayed at the March 7th Dallas Mavericks vs. Utah Jazz Home Game and throughout the month of March at the African American Museum of Dallas Exhibit.

Eligibility:

  • Dallas Fort-Worth Students, grades 8th – 12th grade who attend school within 75 miles of American Airlines Center
  • Students must submit artwork Jan 17 – Feb 21, 2022 by 11:59pm through submission form mavs.com/art
  • Winners will be selected and notified February 23, 2022 by 11:59pm
