The City of DeSoto and Local Churches partnered with South Toyota to Fil-A-Tundra of toys for families in the city of DeSoto on Saturday at the South Toyota, 39660 Lyndon B. Johnson Fwy. The toy presentations were made by Chief Jerry Duffield, of DeSoto Fire Department, to Sonia Moore of Community Nest and the presentation of clothing items to Ryan Henry of Friends Place in DeSoto.
Remarks were made by the General Manager of South Toyota, James Mitchell, who said with the success of this toy drive not only did they fill one Tundra, not only two Tundras, not even three Tundras, but four Tundras were filled.
Councilmember Dr. Dinah Marks, beaming with pride, thanked all of committee members that helped pull this toy drive together and the sponsors: All Star Youth Sports Association, Access Storage, non-profit Big You Little Me, Church of the Disciple, City of DeSoto, Community Baptist Church, DC3, DeSoto Chamber of Commerce, DeSoto Private School, First Bible Church, First United Methodist Church, God Is Ministries-Tweedy Thomas, Hampton Road Baptist Church, Koinonia Baptist Church, and New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, River of Life Church.
The donors included Al Moten, Cedar Hill Mayor Steve Mason, businessman David Wells, LonnieB Creative Designs and Saidrick Jackson.
